On Thin Ice / Siberia

Transformation through immersion, risk, and place

Driving across the frozen surface of Lake Baikal, I entered a landscape where certainty dissolved and attention became a survival skill. Removed from familiarity and comfort, the experience reshaped how I understood risk, presence, and the ways extreme environments teach us to see differently. This project documents that transformation as it unfolded—slowly, viscerally, and without rehearsal.

Completely out of my element, I found that my normal reactions didn’t feel appropriate anymore. I suspected they would never be quite the same again.
